Can my tub be replaced with a walk-in shower?
Frequently yes, but drainage, floor structure and the position of existing plumbing decide how straightforward it is. Have the room assessed on site so the options and their cost implications can be explained.
What matters most in a bathroom remodel?
What you cannot see afterwards: waterproofing, the substrate under the tile, drainage falls and ventilation. Finishes are the visible part, but these determine whether the room holds up. Ask how each is specified in your scope.
How long will my bathroom be out of use?
It depends on the scope, on tile and fixture lead times and on inspection timing. Ask for the expected sequence during the estimate, and plan for the room to be unavailable for the whole of it.
Can you remodel more than one bathroom at a time?
Yes, and it is often more efficient when bathrooms share plumbing walls or the same finishes. Mention every room you are considering so the sequence can be planned together.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel?
Usually when plumbing or electrical work is involved, though requirements vary by municipality. Ask which parts of your scope need a permit, who files it and how inspections are scheduled.
Can the bathroom be made more accessible?
Accessibility features such as curbless entries, wider doorways, seating and grab-bar blocking can often be planned in. Raise this early, because some of it has to be built into the structure rather than added later.
Will you handle mold or water damage found behind the walls?
Hidden damage is common in older bathrooms and cannot be priced before it is exposed. Ask how unforeseen conditions are handled in your agreement so there is an agreed process if something is found.
